The annual Holetown Festival commemorates the arrival of the first British settlers in Barbados, who landed on February 17, 1627, in the area that is now known as Holetown, in the parish of St. James.
What initially started as a weekend-long celebration in 1977, has grown to an eight-day festival due its great popularity with visitors and locals alike. Designated as one of the Seven Magnificent Festivals of Barbados, this showcase of Barbadian culture and traditions has something for everyone. Its lineup includes: street parades, markets, folk singing and dancing as well as sports and games.
The 2020 Holetown Festival runs from Sunday, February 16 to Sunday, February 23, and starts with the Opening Ceremony at the Holetown Monument, featuring various musical, dance and drama presentations by well-known local performers.
